UQ Events

Research Commercialisation Workshop for RHD students
Protecting Intellectual Property and identifying ways to optimise its commercial potential are among the topics UQ RHD students will cover at this year’s research commercialisation ‘boot camp’ run by UQ’s main commercialisation company, UniQuest. This intensive, two-day, off-campus workshop will help postgraduate researchers gain a better understanding of how to translate their ideas, inventions and expertise into products and services for the global market. RHD students from all faculties and institutes are welcome to apply for the limited free places. Workshop costs are covered by UniQuest, including transport to and from the St Lucia campus. Applications close on 12 February.
Careers Fair 2010
The UQ Careers Fair is an annual event that brings together university students and major employers from across the country. The 2010 Careers Fair will be held on Wednesday, 31st March in the UQ Centre, St. Lucia campus. Students are welcome to attend the Fair anytime between 11am to 3pm to meet employers, each of whom will have their own booth and display area. For UQ students, the event offers a unique opportunity to meet face-to-face with leading employers from government and private industry. The Careers Fair enables students to explore their career opportunities and obtain specific information about individual companies. In addition, a number of participants will be giving away useful information on finding employment, preparing resumes and performing well at job interviews.

FEAST Residential Camp
FEAST is a 4 day residential camp providing students with the opportunity to experience university life first-hand, sample the courses that NRAVS has on offer, check out the campuses and become familiar with life at UQ. FEAST is a great opportunity for grade 11 and 12 students to try out the academic, social and sporting aspects available to them as a prospective UQ student. They can immerse themselves in uni life with other FEAST students, meet UQ students and lecturers and have heaps of fun along the way!

Mathematics conference on 6th February
The IMA and the University of Greenwich are pleased to announce the inaugural undergraduate mathematics conference. It will take place at the University of Greenwich Saturday 6 February 2010. The aim is for undergraduates to give short presentations about mathematics which excites them. Professor Ian Stewart has agreed to deliver the keynote speech. The conference is free to participants.
